That plate of vegetables for the shabu-shabu looks so beautiful and delicious! And I'm not normally one to go ga-ga over veggies.

Just catching up on your blog. My sister in law lives in Tochigi, but not too close to Nasu. I hope it doesn't stop her from teaching her kids how to ski.
I suppose you haven't caught the latest version of Survivor yet in Japan. One of the rewards was shabu shabu on the Great Wall. All the reward winners turned their noses up at it and preferred to continue starving. I was so disappointed. I've had my share of bad experiences with shabu shabu, but when it comes down to either eating a a few underdone bits of beef, or starving I'd pick shabu everytime.

Heather, the veggies did indeed look lovely. I am never able to present mine like that at home.

David, I don't have cable and had no idea Survivor is still going (I don't think I've ever seen a full episode). They're doing it in Japan? And the particapants chose to starve rather than eat shabu shabu? Don't they eat live bugs and stuff on that show? Call me crazy, but I'll take rare wagyu over live bugs any day...
